Discord’s servers are a great place to chat with your friends, but sometimes things can get quiet. Too quiet. Because of this (and many other reasons), bots were introduced to the application allowing users to play music through them.
However, if you can’t get a bot to work for you, or you just want to know how to play audio through Discord, follow this guide.
Adjusting Windows Audio Settings
Before you can start blasting music through your mic on Discord, you will need to edit a few settings on Windows.
- Right-click the sound icon on the Windows taskbar, select Open Sound Settings, and then head into Sound Control Panel (top-right).
Alternatively, just search for Sound Control Panel in Windows.
- Open the Recording tab.
- Scroll down until you see Stereo Mix and make sure it’s enabled.
- Click Set As Default and close the control panel.
Once you have gone through the trouble of adjusting the audio settings, you can head back to Discord, join a channel and start playing music.
Now, everyone should be able to hear the music coming from your mic.
However, if it is still not working for you, go to User Settings and then into Voice & Video. In the input dropdown menu, select Stereo Mix and then go back and try again.
That is all there is to it!
So, go and enjoy some of your favorite songs with your favorite crew on Discord!
