Chatting on Discord while playing a co-op game with your friends is always a fun experience. However, in some games, such as Minecraft, to connect to a friend’s server, you will need their IP address.
If you aren’t particularly tech-savvy, you might not know how to find their IP address. This is common and it’s why many people are looking for ways to find someone’s IP on Discord, or at least through it.
To help, we have done some research to determine whether or not it is possible to obtain an IP address via Discord.

Discord Is Too Secure
The short answer to this question is no. It is not possible to obtain someone’s IP address via Discord. This is because this application utilizes TLS (Transport Layer Security) and other techniques to protect users from scammers and hackers.
The fact that Discord hosts its own servers adds another layer of protection.
If you need your friend’s IP address, you won’t be able to simply get it through Discord. On the other hand, you don’t need to worry that somebody is going to hack into your computer via Discord. It is not going to happen.
There might be expert hackers that could break in, even through TLS, but these people are few and far between. They probably also have more lucrative things to do than stealing random IP addresses.
Getting The IP Of Someone Else
Just because you can’t obtain an IP address through Discord, this doesn’t mean you should give up on the idea of playing a co-op game with your friend. There is a way!
To get your friend’s IP address, you can use a third-party website that automatically detects a computer’s public IP address. To do this, you will usually need your friend’s help, depending on whether you have your own website or not.
All you need to do is send them the link, then they can open it, copy their IP address, and send it to you on Discord.
If you own a website, be aware that you can log an IP that visits a particular, hidden URL, and you can do this without their consent. You can even hide the link by using a URL shortener such as Bitly.
