Talking on Discord while playing a co-op game with your friends is always a fun experience. However, in some games, such as Minecraft, to connect to a friend’s server, you will need their IP address.
If you aren’t tech-savvy, you may not know how to find the IP address. This isn’t uncommon, and indeed, it’s why many people are looking for ways to get someone’s IP from Discord or at least through it.
So to help you with that, we have done the research to determine whether it is possible to obtain such information through this application!
Discord Is Too Secure
The short answer to this question is a simple no. It is not possible to obtain someone’s IP address with Discord. This is because this application has TLS (Transport Layer Security) and many other more techniques to keep users safe from scammers or hackers.
Additionally, the fact that Discord hosts its own servers adds a further layer of protection.
So, if you want your friend’s IP address, you won’t be able to get it that easily through Discord. Or, if you are worried that someone is going to hack into your computer, don’t. It is not going to happen.
Of course, there will always be experts that may be able to break in, even through TLS, but those people are few and far between. Moreover, they probably have better things to do than steal IP addresses.
Getting The IP Of Someone Else
Just because you can’t obtain an IP address through Discord does not mean that you should give up on the idea of playing that co-op game with your friend! Happily, there is a way!
To get your friend’s IP address, you can use a third-party website that automatically detects a computer’s public IP address. Naturally, to do go through with this, you may need your friend’s consent, depending on whether you have your own website or not.
In other words, you send them the link, they open it, copy their IP address, and then send it to you through Discord.
If you own a website, be aware that you can log the IP that visits a particular, hidden URL, and you can do this without their consent. You can even hide the link with an URL shortener such as Bitly.
