Even though Discord is one of the best places to build a community, there is one thing that it has lacked for years. A proper way to notify your server members about an oncoming event.
But, like always, Discord’s development team delivered us the option to create a Discord event.
With this feature, you can schedule an event days before to ensure that your entire community can see when this event will be held.
Since this is a pretty new feature, you might have missed it.
So, here’s a quick guide to help you create an event on Discord!

Creating A Discord Event For A Voice Channel
These events can be scheduled for text channels, voice channels, and even in-real-life meetups.
First, let’s see how you can create an event for a voice channel.
- Open Discord.
- Click the server name (top-left) and select Create Event.
- In the next prompt, choose Voice Channel, select a channel, and hit Next.
- With the location picked, you should now explain what the event is about and when it will be held. So, add a topic, add a date, and if you want, a short description and a cover image.
- After clicking on Next, you will get a final preview of the event, ensure everything is correct and create the event.
Now once the event is active, all of your server members should be able to see it right above the voice/text channels.
Note: You can always edit the event after creating it.
Unfortunately, there is no way to make events exclusive only to certain roles. So, even if you add new roles with minimal permissions, they’ll still be able to see the event.
