Discord’s servers are perfect for building communities or for gathering all of your friends in one place. You can have thousands, even tens of thousands of people in one server.
However, you can imagine how hectic the chat can get when dozens or hundreds of people are messaging simultaneously.
If you want to clean up your server a bit, you will need to clear your chat rooms. Here’s a short guide on how you can do that.
Clearing Discord Chat Manually
The simpler, but more tedious method of clearing chat is by doing it manually.
Just hold down any Shift and click on the right trashcan icon on the right side of the message. It is a tedious method because you have to do this for every single message. Not exactly efficient.
Fortunately, there is an alternative method.
Clearing Discord Chat With A Bot
The alternative method is by using a bot. The bot can automatically clear all messages in the text channel with a simple command.
There are several different bots available that can execute this kind of command, but for this article, we took MEE6 as an example.
- Head on over to the official MEE6 bot website.
- Click Add to Discord, select your server and click Continue.
- Once MEE6 enters the server, head on over to the bot’s dashboard.
- On the dashboard, you will need to enable the Moderator commands.
- Head back to your server’s text channel and type !clear 100.
By inputting this command, MEE6 will conveniently delete the previous 100 messages in the text channel. Furthermore, you can input any number to specify exactly how many messages you want to delete. Such a cool feature!
Also, you can specify a certain username to delete all of their messages. For example: !clear @PCStrike.
That’s all there is to it. Remember, MEE6 is not the only bot with this kind of command. There are plenty of other bots out there that can provide you with the same or maybe even better features.
