The Problem Explained

Problem

The 227 Roblox error can be caused by a bad internet connection, as well as corrupted game files and an unexpected ping rise.

The error message accompanying this problem is: “Lost connection to the game server, please reconnect (Error Code: 227)“, which doesn’t say much about the issue’s cause.

Upon reading the error message, most players would simply try to reconnect to the server, but that’s when the situation becomes frustrating, as reconnecting is not possible due to the same error over and over again.

Luckily, we’ve tested a few methods that users reported as working and put them all in the following sections below.

If you’re looking to fix the 227 Roblox error, this is what you need to do.

Fix 1: Ensure Your Connection Is Performing Optimally

Internet Connection

As reported by many users, one of the main causes of the 227 Roblox error is a poor internet connection.

Sometimes, you don’t need to completely lose connection from the internet to get kicked out of a Roblox server. It’s enough to have a poor enough connection for the server to detect it and issue the 227 error on your screen.

The best way to ensure this doesn’t happen is by avoiding downloads while playing, or at least limiting the download speeds, as well as ensuring nobody else is using your network and most of your bandwidth while you’re in-game.

To check whether your connection is the issue or not, we recommend Speedtest by Ookla. With just a click of a button, the website will give you all metrics about your connection’s performance, so you can easily see if it’s not performing up to the optimal expectations and therefore is the culprit for the 227 Roblox error.

If you notice poor connection performance, we recommend restarting your router, and if it continues, contact your Internet Service Provider for further assistance.

You can restart your router by switching off its power button, waiting five minutes, and then restoring power to it once again.

It’s also recommended to clear your DNS Resolver Cache, which is a method we use for many Roblox connection-related errors, and you can do that by following the steps below:

  1. Press Windows + S on your keyboard at the same time, and then type in Command Prompt in the search bar that just opened. Right-click the first result, and choose Run as Administrator, as shown in the image below.
right clicking Windows 10 Command Prompt and selecting Run as Administrator
  2. In the Command Prompt window on your screen right now, type in ipconfig flushdns and press Enter on your keyboard to execute the command.
  3. You will receive a returning message stating that the DNS Resolver cache is flushed successfully, as shown in the image below.
ipconfig /flushdns, Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache

You can now close the Command Prompt window and open Roblox. Begin any game and attempt to join the server that you faced problems with before. The fixed issue should resolve the 227 error.

Fix 2: Clear The Roblox Cache & Temp Files

Delete or Remove

If the above approach didn’t assist you in resolving the issue, there are other actions you can take, such as clearing your Roblox cache and temporary files, which is a technique that has a significant success rate when the 227 error is in question.

Corrupted storage and temporary files can lead to different problems with the game, and one of them is experiencing disconnection from servers during play.

To fix that, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Press Windows + S on your keyboard at the same time. This will open the Windows search box. Within it, type in %AppData% and press Enter on your keyboard.
  2. Now the hidden AppData folder is opened on your screen. Within it, you need to access the Local folder and find the one dedicated to Roblox.
  3. Delete the Roblox folder by right-clicking it with your mouse and choosing Delete.

If you want to be sure there are only original Roblox files installed on your computer, we recommend reinstalling the entire game too.

You can do this by going into the Apps & Features section in Windows, where you can find Roblox, click on it, and then choose Uninstall.

For a more visual representation of the steps listed above, take a look at this helpful video below.

Deleting the Cache & Temp files and then reinstalling Roblox is completely safe and won’t impact your account in any way. This is just a way to ensure that no corrupt or non-allowed third-party files are present within your game’s main directory.

This should help you solve the problem with ease.

Fix 3: Re-Log Into Your Roblox Account

Another potential cause for this problem can be a double log-in session, which means the server prioritizes the authentication credentials from one out of two or multiple other sessions.

To simplify, if you’re logged in from multiple accounts at the same time, the 227 error can arise, and the best way to prevent that from happening is to log out of all devices and ensure you’re only signed in from the computer you’re using at the moment.

You can do this by navigating into the Roblox account settings panel and then clicking on the Sign Out button under the Secure Sign Out category/section.

Conclusion

That’s all you need to know about the 227 Roblox error, which could happen because of a few reasons, the most common one being a poor internet connection.

Unless you got the 227 code due to an issue with the Roblox servers, the methods listed in this guide should help you fix it easily.
